Keeping Children Warm

Wool-Aid is a charity that knits for children in very cold climates. In the past, we were able to send items to Tibet, Mongolia, Canada, Afghanistan, etc. Here are some hats I finished recently.
Wool-Aid uses only wool (at least 80%) for the extra warmth. All of the hats are made from various stash yarns double or triple stranded to create a dense, warm fabric. More info: wool-aid.org

The patterns used (Thorpe, Quynn, and Ear Cozy) can be found on Ravelry.

Chadwick shawl

Stephen West's pattern Chadwick is a new favorite of mine. This is how my Chadwick looks:

007 Chadwick shawl
012 Chadwick shawl017 Chadwick shawl016 Chadwick shawl

The shawl consists of a clever design that juxtaposes two colors. Mine are BLUE HONEY and MELON:
042 MELON + BLUE HONEY

BLUE HONEY is a color changing cotton yarn that gradually changes from blue to topaz to cigar. 019 BLUE HONEY swatch
MELON is, well, melon. It is a single color cotton yarn that provides the contrast to BLUE HONEY. 042 b MELON

I shortened section II of the pattern to 11 inches (rather than 12) and was able to complete the shawl with one 50 gr skein of BLUE HONEY and MELON each. The yarn is available in the shop.

More Colors

Here is a quick updates on colors:

SUNSET
Gotta put some sun and color in this cold and dreary time of year... The colors, especially the orange, are really bright and strong.

SUMMER WAVES
What can I say? I just love anything blue and green. This combo reminds me of Caribbean waters, which I am truly missing.

All yarns are 100% cotton and very soft. One 100 gr skein has 480 yards, which is usually enough for a shawlette or scarf. More info is available here - wollesyarncreations.etsy.com
